ARNA Township Ordinances
In October of 2019, Arna Township adopted a new zoning ordinance (Ordinance 2021-2) that regulates a wide range of topics:
Additional information about sewer systems, junk yards, groundwater quality, and other environmental issues can be found at:
Within our ordinance, you will find numerous references to state laws.  You can read those state laws by using this link:
Arna Township also adopted a new ordinance in June of 2015, that regulates how Nuisances and Hazards will be addressed.  This is known as Ordinance 2015-2.  Use the link below to get a copy of that ordinance.
Please refer to the ordinance itself for specific details about these regulations.  A lot of incidental information can also be found by taking a look at the various permit applications (use the tab below).  Two zones are identified in our ordinance; Zone A, which is the area in and immediately surrounding the Townsite of Markville, and Zone B, which is all the rest of the township that is not in Zone A.  Some reasons why zones were done this way are: a) because the subdivision of land needs to allow for smaller lot sizes in Zone A, whereas in Zone B, minimum parcel sizes are much larger, and b) because for Conditional Use permits, issues such as business parking, industrial noise, and other such issues are far more relevant in Zone A than in Zone B.

The electronic copy of Ordinance 2019-2 that is available on this web site is a MS Word text-based copy, and does not include the two graphical maps that show Zone A and Zone B.  If you need a copy of either or both of these maps, then please contact us, and we will send a copy by U. S. mail.
